Back in Action

After a 9-month break, I'm back. 2011 has been quite productive, but not in the running department. Met someone special. Got an amazing new job. Details to come.

With so much change, my running goals went out the window. I've run NO races this year! That's about to change.

After realizing that 2011 is quickly coming to an end, I realized that I should get my butt in gear and re-assess my goals. Upon re-assessment, I signed up for a 15k. And a half-marathon. And now I'm trying to choose between marathons.

I bought a great book, Advanced Marathoning. Great info in there! And the goal is to qualify for Boston.

With that in mind, now I need to identify the best possible BQ opportunity in FL. Melbourne Music & Beaches in February 2012? Disney 2012? Jacksonville in December 2011? Register for all in hopes that one will get me to Boston?

One step at a time. I ran 7 miles today. Now off to the golf course. Back in track, on the track and excited. :)

2011: No Year's Resolutions

Happy (belated) New Year!

One of my New Year's Resolutions this year was to write more. You see how well that worked out. After a long day of writing for work, it's difficult to find the motivation to write when I get home. But better late than never! Perhaps I'd have better luck if I made sexier, more enticing resolutions in the first place.

It's funny ... New Year's Resolutions tend to be so serious. They typically involve more exercise, more education, fewer jello shots, less debauchery ... why don't more people prioritize things that are a bit more whimsical? Though perhaps making something a resolution automatically turns it into a chore ... something to be dreaded.

Like blogger Rachel Wilkerson, for example. She's kind of one of the awesomest people on the internet. Spell check doesn't seem to like the word awesomest, but it's pretty appropriate for Rachel. Anyway, Rachel declared 2010 the Year of the Sex Tape. That was her goal for the year. Come NYE 2010, she found herself scrambling around with her boyfriend and a flip camera at the Hilton, trying to make this plan come together. Then she got distracted by Patron XO Cafe, Starbucks peppermint ice cream and a blender. Her poor resolution fell to the wayside. Probably for the best ... unless you're Kim Kardashian and stand to profit greatly, you probably should keep your bedroom life a bit more private.

Perhaps this is why resolutions don't really work. Resolutions become chores. With that in mind, I DO NOT resolve to write more on here.

Less than a full week into the new year and my resolutions are already are dead. As Natalie Dee would say:
